Welcome to my website! My name is Jon. I am a 29-year-old sysadmin from California. I made this website to learn AWS and HTML, improve my IT skills, and hopefully host some cool services in the future. In addition, I plan to put up some poetry and articles on IT and philosophy that I've written. These will be listed in the navigation menu to the right. You're on the website's homepage now. Any updates or news about the website will be listed below.
I first became interested in technology when I was in elementary school. At around age 9 or 10 I started writing HTML and CSS (I wanted to customize my NeoPets profile page). As is probably obvious by the very rudimentary design of this website, I didn't stick with it. Instead, I started tinkering around with networking when I was in middleschool. When I was in highschool, I began using Linux. I continued studying networking and Linux administration as a hobby, but didn't consider it as a career until recently. Now I am studying for the CCNA certificate.
This website is hosted on Amazon Web Services and uses Ubuntu Server. I personally prefer a more low-tech and "do-it-yourself" style of hosting, but I chose to go with AWS because I wanted to learn AWS. AWS is very widely used, so learning it is sure to come in handy. I chose Ubuntu for the same reason. Ubuntu additionally comes with some very nice features, like the ability to livepatch kernel updates without a restart.
